Should religious conversions be banned?

India by definition is a democratic country .This being said our constitution guarantees us freedom of religion and speech. Should religious conversion be controlled? Are naive people being taken advantage of? Should the government protect them?

I have heard of states banning religious conversions and religious leaders complaining about it. I have also heard of conversions happening because of coercion, monetary benefits etc. What is the right approach the government should take ?

I think the government should not ban religious conversion. It is against the constitution. Having said that, govt. should also protect the naive. If someone thinks that the conversion was done not out of free-will, let them register a police complaint. Let the police investigate and if found inappropriate, take action.
