Don't let anyone tell you what you can and cannot do

I live in the U.S and they call it the land of opportunity and I found out why they call it that . A child is never told what he can and cannot do . Parents encourage kids to find their niche/talent and go for it . Why do parents in India force kids to follow a particular career? Why?

Parents in India don't have the confidence that our country has the right opportunities for someone to be successful in a niche area . They want to play safe with their kid's life. I don't blame them. But things are changing and the number of career opportunities have increased choice in India. Additionally we are moving towards a border less world and a potential employer could come from any part of the world .

This being said parents should start encouraging kinds to find their niche and follow their dream. Their job should be to guide their kids and not force them into a particular career path or try to live their dream through their kids.

  1. This is a BIG topic and needs digging dude..
firstly, there is a history and culture which drives carrier goals and as u said 'what to do'. historically, common man was never rich and poverty was unhidden and culturally the catch22 cycle of born-education-career-family-kids cycle is very prevalent which attaches lot of dependencies and stops 'courageous' attemps to find future to what we think.
