Bias in constitution against Christian dalits

Dalits are some of the underprivileged people in whole caste system in India. The govt. has provided reservation for dalits to help them move up the social ladder. When a dalit converts to Christianity he loses his dalit status and thus loses all the benefits the govt. provides. By changing his religon, has his social status improved? Why the loss of benefits ? Is this fair ?

This has been a long standing issue. The congress govt. when it was in power tried to change this but couldnt get it done at that time. Now they are in power again and this topic has come up again . Will the congress govt. do the right thing and amend this rule?

  1. this has been an issue of concern for a long time. The SC heard the case a few days ago.. Thought you could have mentioned that. Such discrimination exists and the sad part is that it is not addressed by the COnstitution.
